Say moshimoshi to Subaru‘s Advanced Tourer Concept, which is getting unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo motor show alongside the long-awaited BRZ coupe.
And, according the chaps in Ōta, the hybrid boxer-engined show car’s giving us a ruddy good insight into the replacement for the hoary but marvellous Legacy. It’s strikingly similar proportions suggest plenty of truth in the claim, too. This is a Very Good Thing.
Just look at it! A GT-R-like rear shrug, a cool wobbly spoiler and gently Art Deco wood banding. But we also discovered that there’s some interesting tech on board, chiefly the downsized boxer engine.
As well as being shackled to a single electric motor, the petrol’s been downsized and now uses direct fuel injection. It’s also got a high-pressure turbocharger, which Subaru reckons will allow the current crop of 2.5 and 2.0-litre engines to shrink to an awfully small 1600cc. No official figures have crept out, but engineers reckon it can be tuned to rub shoulders with the 262bhp 2.5-litre turbo once the boost from its hybrid’s accounted for. Not bad.
The bad bit is that the Advanced Tourer’s blown 1.6 runs through one of those insufferable Lineartronic CVT transmissions. On the plus side – and as you’d expect from Subaru – it powers all four wheels.
There is, of course, lots of pie-in-the-sky tech flagellation. The main offender’s a digital monitor built into the steering wheel that display maps, TV and internet services. Which sounds tremendously dangerous. To make up for it, it incorporates Subaru’s new EyeSight crash avoidance system – two cameras mounted above the rear-view mirror monitor traffic conditions and detect pedestrians and cyclists. Safe.
We’ll have to wait till November 30 for more details. But for now, seeing as it’s please tell us if you also want this to be the new Legacy…

For 2011, the range of Mini Cooper models receives a slight increase in power output, modified steering for reduced torque steer under hard acceleration, minor cosmetic changes inside and out, optional adaptive headlights, reworked radio controls, standard HD and satellite radio, and added sound insulation. Motoring fun doesn’t have to destroy the planet, nor does eco-friendly driving have to be boring. The 2011 Mini Cooper is proof that you can be entertained by a lively car without drawing criticism from environmentalists. With agile handling, loads of charm and a cool factor that’s hard to match, it’s no surprise the Mini Cooper has remained so popular for so long.
Under the hood, the fun starts with the lively yet economical base 1.6-liter and moves up to the sporty turbocharged Cooper S and raucous John Cooper Works versions. There’s not a whole lot of power here on the spec sheet (the base engine puts out just 121 horsepower, for instance) but the Mini doesn’t weigh very much, either. This boosts fuel economy and helps the Cooper feel lively around town. The car’s small size makes it a breeze to park, too. Inside, the Cooper is surprisingly spacious for two people, and Mini offers further enticement with a dizzying array of factory options and dealer-installed accessories.

Each MINI Cooper that skirts along the blacktop has a story that defines its existence. We already know that they are retro-classy subcompacts that can fit anywhere and do anything. We also know how efficient they are when it matters most. But too many times, these neo-classic rides clone each other, as their drivers tend to just leave them as is. While every MINI has fistful of style that was built in, you know you need more. We·ve got the MINI Grills that do the trick. Why not make your unique package even more refined and luxurious? No other upgrades can do what MINI Cooper Grills can do that isn’t a secret. CARiD.com keeps you in the loop with the unrivaled selection of front-end supremacy that separates your MINI even further from the pack!
CARiD.com features all the top-names from around the world and MINI Cooper Grills are no exception. We’ll get you started right away with the exterior upgrades no one will ignore, comprised of the highest quality possible. We·ll also throw you the discount prices you need to make it happen ASAP. But that’s just who we are.

Mazda released pricing on the 2012 Mazda3, which is now available with the automaker’s Skyactiv engine. The new power plant will be available in Mazda3 i Touring models, which start at $18,450. “Mazda3 i Touring models swap the MZR engine for the all-new SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine, and is EPA-rated to achieve 40 mpg on the highway,” says Mazda in a press release.
Mazda says that the new engine delivers 21 percent better fuel economy, but that increase doesn’t come at the expensive of power. Autoblog writes, “With an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 40 mpg and 155 horsepower, the engine is both more efficient and more powerful than its predecessor.”
There’s also good news for shoppers interested in the base model, as Mazda has lowered the price on the Mazda3 i SV to $15,200, not including a $795 destination fee. However, Edmunds reports that the 2012 Mazda3 i Sport sees a $140 price increase to $17,640 (including a $795 destination fee). Both the base i SV and i Sport models carry the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from the 2011 model.

While Keith and Janel Tanner took Friday to hash out setting the odometer on the V8 Roadster Miata, Brandon Fitch and I continued on with our education with the Open Road Motorsports Targa School in our trusty Supercharged NC. The day’s instruction orbited around two simulated stages on Bell Island just a short ferry ride from St. John’s. With our notes prepped, our own Terratrip rally computer properly calibrated, and a closed course through the winding roads of the island ahead of us, we were understandably enthusiastic about putting our freshly-gleaned skills to use.
We arrived early, took the first spot in the queue just ahead of a vicious-sounding Ferrari Enzo and waited for the stage lights to go green. When the time came, Fitch dropped the hammer and I immediately began rattling off instructions.

“Ok, 130 meters square right into 40 meters square left.”
With Fitch positioning the vehicle appropriately on the track, I glanced up toward the Terratrip only to realize that the accumulated distance digits had barely crested 30 meters. Fitch was waiting for the next instruction and I had no idea how close or far we were from the bend. Grand Junction, we have a problem.
We ran the rest of the day without the computer, which left me to simply call out the next instruction with no real concept of distance. Basically, I wasn’t much help. Near as we can figure, the first hard launch away from the stage repositioned the Terratrip probe to the point that it was no longer producing an accurate reading.
Our attempts get the probe closer to its original position haven’t exactly been fruitful as of yet. Unless we can figure out a solution, we may be forced to rely on a slightly less accurate form of navigation to count down our distances: a Garmin GPS.
In the meantime, we crossed paths with a few more competitors, including SRT honcho Ralph Gilles in his Dodge Viper and the MotoMan crew in their 2011 Challenger 392 SRT8.

From the beginning the Hummer was a car made for off-road travel and in 2010, the Hummer H3 does not depart from that tried and true tradition. Nakedly rugged in its looks, beautifully photogenic and unashamedly thirsty for fuel, the Hummer has long set a standard for midsize SUVs. Originally design for primarily off-road travel, over the years the Hummer has undergone extensive changes to make it more city friendly but it still has a long way to go to get beyond mediocre highway performance.
The high ground clearance offered by the Hummer H3 make it seem like a more powerful ride just because the car will put you head and shoulders above even other SUVs in its class. IntelliChoice gave the 2009 base model Hummer an “Excellent” rating because over five years when you consider the vehicle’s excellent car safety, car insurance, and other factors, it is just a good car to own in the long run.

What separates your Hummer from just any other vehicle? Does it all come down to the body style? The exterior shape? That boxy yet sleekly intimidating look? Whatever it is that provides the attraction, there is always more style to be crammed in and we think we’ve got the answer:

Hummer Grills! Getting the most out of all your front-end potential is an important part of being truly involved with your ride, and leaving it bare and blank is for the everyday drivers who care just enough to give it a wash every now and then. We’re a different breed. And we know it takes something extra. Boosting up from our assortment of Hummer Grills is a great way to add to the already transfixing appearance your beast presents.
You want name-brand quality? We’ll give it you! Asanti®, T-Rex, Precision® RBP, and many more are available for you to choose from. Find the essence that matches your style best and run with it! CARiD.com will make sure you get the exact OEM fit that does the job right, plus we’ll take care of you with our friendly, expert service should you have any questions.

Slow and funny looking, the 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser is the zombie of the automotive world. Despite falling sales and harsh reviews, the PT Cruiser just won’t die.
Now called the PT Cruiser Classic, the PT Cruiser used to be one of Chrysler’s more popular models, so the company decided not to mess with a good thing. Unfortunately, leaving the PT Cruiser alone gave competitors time to catch up with the small wagon’s funky look and utilitarian design. Now, the car that helped launch the current crop of stylish compact wagons has been surpassed.
In fact, the PT Cruiser was scheduled to be discontinued at the end of the 2009 model year, but Chrysler has since decided to let the wagon roll on for another year. Car and Driver comments, “Chrysler’s 1940s-esque retro wagon remains versatile for its size but is clearly outdated. A post-bankruptcy stay of execution means the funky hatchback sees its 10th birthday, but there are far better choices in the segment. Unless you love the looks, shop elsewhere.”
Still, if you like the PT Cruiser’s looks and aren’t looking for a high-performance car stuffed with features, the PT Cruiser is an affordable and decent-looking way to move people and cargo. Reviewers say its chair-height seats and wide-opening doors make it easy to get in an out of, something that may be helpful for people with limited mobility. Plus, for a small car, its cargo area is generous.

Each model on the Chrysler roster has a story to tell, a tale of American innovation and class. It is the refinement within every Chrysler detail why the brand is so revered, and that hasn’t changed. In fact, the legend is only growing and the industry is trying to keep up! CARiD.com is always one step ahead of the rest, especially when it comes to Chrysler Grills. We feature an enormous inventory of Chrysler Grills that provide the luxurious accent no one can turn their back on! Sparkling Stainless Steel and Polished Chrome are available in most Chrysler Grills so you have the choices you need. From the 300 to the Sebring, every custom desire you have is met with CARiD.com. Asanti®, T-Rex, Precision®, E&G Classics® and more are always on hand with a variety you can get creative with! So many companies make hollow promises and wind up delivering shoddy quality that chips, falls apart, and doesn’t last. CARiD.com is respected around the world for the lifelong quality brought to you by the most reputable manufacturers around. We’ll give you the knockout luxury and style you need. You can also count on the precise OEM fit every time, as well. Just stick with us, and we’ll get you the Custom Grille everyone falls in love with!

Maserati seemed destined to join the ranks of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari when, in the late 1940s, the manufacturer would produce the 4CLT and the 4CLT/48 and 50. Soon, fields were filled with the chassis. And perhaps while not quite on the same level as Alfa Romeo’s all-dominant 158 Alfetta, the Maserati designs seemed to be headed on a path for glory and honor.
Maserati seemed to be on course to become the elite manufacturer. Many privateers and small teams would put their faith in the powerful cars, and many would reap their benefits. However, most were unaware of the financial crisis that was threatening the company. But it would become apparent as the 1950s began.
After such great promise just a couple of years earlier, the official Maserati works team would take part in its last Formula One race in 1950. There would be many other teams that would race the Maserati chassis up through 1951 but they would do so without much factory support. Even in 1952 the aged Maserati 4CLT/48 and 50 would appear, albeit modified in order to compete.

Maserati owners are a different breed. They play on a whole different field than the rest. What’s more is that they know it. But who could blame them? They treat their rides the right way and throw some of their own personal influence into the mix every chance they get. And their favorite way to do this is by locking on to Maserati Grills. We know the luxurious flavor that accompanies the essence of the brand and because of that, all drivers look to us when it’s time for them to find the Maserati Grills that punctuate their vehicles best. We carry only the most prestigious quality because we know that’s what you expect. Plus, that’s just the CARiD.com way. We show you the style, quality, and options, and we let you make the choice. Sound easy enough?
When you sit behind the wheel of such an iconic vehicle, you can’t afford to take chances on generic brands or questionable quality. There’s just too much out there that falls short.

MINI is expanding its product family with the launch of a model geared squarely to maximising driving fun. The MINI Coupé indulges the keen driver with a level of agility unmatched in the small car segment, along with a unique body and interior concept and the brand’s customary commitment to premium levels of design, quality, equipment and individualisation. The first two-seater in its current line-up sees MINI not only breathe new life into its successful racing history but also provide a shot in the arm for the super-compact sports car class. The selection of engines, chassis set-up, weight distribution and aerodynamic properties of the MINI Coupé are all focused on delivering optimum performance. As a result, the new car radiates the brand’s hallmark go-kart feeling with a whole new depth of intensity and achieves the best performance statistics ever recorded by a volume-produced MINI.
The MINI Coupe is the brand’s first model to adopt a three-box body structure with a strikingly stepped rear end. Its distinctive lines are expressed in the customary MINI design language and combine with unmistakable styling features. All of which accurately showcases both the new model’s distinctive characteristics and its brand identity. Its flat silhouette and innovative ‘helmet roof’ lend the MINI Coupé a sporty and individual allure. In addition to the integral roof spoiler, an active rear spoiler optimises airflow at higher speeds.
Inside the car, the two-seater concept is emphasised by features such as oval recesses in the roof liner. With its extremely high-opening tailgate and large luggage area with through-loading facility, the MINI Coupé displays outstanding versatility in day-to-day driving, when transporting leisure items or sports gear, and on trips out with a lucky partner.
The MINI Coupé can be ordered with the most powerful petrol and diesel engines in the brand’s arsenal. Outputs range from the 90 kW/122 hp of the MINI Cooper Coupé, to the MINI Cooper SD Coupé (105 kW/143 hp) and MINI Cooper S Coupé (135 kW/184 hp), all the way up to the MINI John Cooper Works Coupé, a thoroughbred athlete producing 155 kW/211 hp.
A level of chassis quality unmatched in the small car segment gives the new MINI model the handling flair you would expect from the brand. The precise Electric Power Steering, the standard-fitted DSC stability control system, powerful brakes and measures designed specifically to optimise torsional rigidity ensure the MINI Coupé driver can enjoy the ultimate in go-kart feeling.
The striking roof of the MINI Coupé is painted in a contrasting colour as standard, while the options list includes a new interpretation of the MINI Sport stripes. An extended selection of seat variants, door trim, trim strips and Colour Lines can be specified for the interior. Standard equipment includes air conditioning (MINI Cooper S Coupé, MINI Cooper SD Coupé, MINI John Cooper Works Coupé), speed-sensitive power steering, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, Park Distance Control, height-adjustable seats and an audio system with MP3 compatible CD player and AUX IN connection. An array of high-quality options enhance the comfort and individuality of the MINI Coupé. Plus, customers can also dip into the exclusive MINI Yours range of products, as well as options and accessories with a strong sporting flavour from John Cooper Works. MINI Connected functions such as web radio, Google local search and Google Send to Car services, reception of RSS news feeds, and in-car use of Facebook and Twitter, are available in conjunction with the MINI Visual Boost radio or MINI navigation system.

Mini has proven that good things really do come in small packages. Offering a vivid mix of retro-style, economic efficiency, and a touch of sportiness, Mini knows few boundaries and is only growing more distinctive. Perfectly placed Mini Accessories only elevate this authentic effect. To keep your version going full-tilt, top-quality Mini parts have to be a part of the equation. To kick of the latest ride in the Mini stable, the advertising team came up with a fun little video with the tagline “Another Day. Another Adventure.” The 49-second video shows the Mini Coupe as it travels (in a spirited fashion) through Iceland, Rio and Hong Kong. The idea, of course, is that the fresh-faced coupe + a willing co-pilot = fun anywhere the open road takes you.

Mini may have just released its own “spy photos” of the new Coupe, set to go on sale later this year, but now, our cameramen have spotted the next-generation volume model Mini out on the street. As you can see, the next Mini Cooper is expected to grow in size a bit, if only to make room for a smaller entry-level car that’s coming down the pipeline (previewed by the Rocketman concept from this year’s Geneva Motor Show).
While the Mini’s overall shape won’t be changing, we can expect the front fascia to take influence from the design seen on the Countryman crossover. Moreover, the new platform that underpins the Cooper will be shared with a new series of front-wheel-drive BMW models. The biggest changes will, of course, be found underhood, where we can likely expect an updated range of turbocharged and naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines.

MINI Cooper Spoilers don’t act as simple ornaments that politely grace the profile of your vehicle. They are much more powerful than that. Instead, they wring every inch of style possible out of the exterior design, highlighting the retro-fashioned appearance with a sleek yet contrasting suggestion. Just picture your MINI Cooper Spoiler locked on in the rear and the dynamic implications it elicits. This is the kind of effect which makes this custom upgrade such an inspired one. It is also why MINI drivers seem to gravitate to CARiD.com when it’s time for them to get in on the action for themselves. With only high-grade Fiberglass or specially-molded Plastic serving as our main materials, you know that durability is never an issue. Thus, it all comes down to you and your prolific desires…
We’ll get you going strong with the

MINI Cooper Spoiler you hunger for. It’s an easy process. First, find your Model above. Then click on your Model Year. After that, the choice is yours! You’ll notice that our spoilers are nothing if not premium made parts. We also make sure you get simple, precise installation steps that make it exceedingly easy, as well as an incredible value everyone respects.
