2009 Cadillac Grille

We were the first to show you shots of the new 2009 Cadillac XLR, now we’ve taken a jump to ludicrous speed with the first photographic evidence of the 2009 Cadillac XLR-V. The new hotness from Cadillac is getting the same wire-mesh grille we expect from the V-Series, and what looks to be a gigantic Cadillac badge smack-dab in the center of it. And oh yes, did we mention the “supercharged” logo on the side of the new stylin’ Caddy? The only question is whether that super-ed-up engine will be the 4.4-liter Northstar V8 (443 HP) or the 6.2-liter LSA V8 (550 HP). Which do you think it should get? T-REX BILLET GRILLES. When it comes to manufacturing a quality product, it starts in the design department but it doesn’t end there. Billet Grilles start with solid stock of aircraft quality T-5 or T-6 billet aluminum rather than extruded aluminum as used by some competitors. The stock is cut to length and then shaped to its contour. Each grille is then hand assembled into a custom jig and welded with a process called “T.I.G.” to ensure a strong and clean weld.

CITY PLANS TO CHARGE FIRMS FOR PROVIDING STAFF CAR PARKS

Cadillac CTS Accessories .

CHARGING firms to allow their employees to park at work will boost a city’s economy, councils have been told.

Councillors in Nottingham want to tax the city’s largest companies to allow their staff to park at work as a way of raising funds to improve public transport.

From 2010 Nottingham City Council plans to charge firms £180-a-year for every parking space they provide their workforce, with the fee rising to £350 in 2014.

Business leaders in Nottingham have warned that if the proposals are approved by the Department for Transport in the coming weeks, then it will hit the city’s economy hard.

But the city council told delegates at a conference for local authorities looking at new sources of income, that traffic congestion currently costs the city’s economy £160 million-a-year.

The council said it plans to spend the millions it raises through the Work-Place Parking Levy on new tram routes, the refurbishment of its train station and new bus routes.

Councillor Jane Urquhart, who is in charge of transport at the authority, attended the Financing the Future of Local Government conference at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London.

She said: “The UK will recover from the current economic crisis, and therefore it’s important to be prepared for the future, rather than focussing purely on the short term.

“If we don’t provide the finance that the Work-Place Parking Levy will generate, employers will not have the incentive to minimise their parking provision and encourage more sustainable commuter travel by their staff.”

Business leaders in Nottingham have warned the tax could be introduced in other cities.

George Cowcher, chief executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said earlier: “It’s clear that a precedent might be set and if it is, businesses across the country will have to dig deep in their pockets to pay the levy.” Chevy Tahoe Grille .

Ford to run ad using film from Web contest on NBC

Custom Dashboard Kit LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Ford Motor Co on Wednesday will run an ad featuring a short film that won an online competition, reflecting how companies are seeking to cut costs while boosting their brand awareness. ADVERTISEMENT

The 60 second ad shows two aspiring filmmakers and snippets of their film, “Numskull,” the winner of the “Mustang Stories” short-movie contest run by online video site Filmaka in conjunction with WPP Group Plc’s JWT Team Detroit ad agency and Ford.

The commercial during the season premier of “Knight Rider” on General Electric Co’s will promote Ford’s new 2010 Mustang model and the aggressive online campaign around it.

“With all the disruption in the advertising and media businesses today, brands need an increasing volume of professional content produced in a highly efficient way,” said Sandy Grushow, president of Filmaka, and former chairman of News Corp’s Fox Television Entertainment Group.

“Brands need to figure out a way to cut costs while they remain as relevant to consumers as ever before,” he said adding, “Ford and JWT approached Filmaka because they believed short films on the Web were the perfect medium.”

Unlike Google Inc’s YouTube and other online video sites, Filmaka pitches itself as a studio, brokering distribution deals for its members and taking a cut of the proceeds from their content.

Since its April 2008 launch, Filmaka has conducted online brand contests for FX Network, owned by News Corp, SABMiller PLC, Red Bull and Cisco Systems Inc but Ford is the first to build a TV ad around the content.

Nearly 400 scripts were submitted to Filmaka after its members were challenged to submit entries reflecting personal stories about the iconic Mustang.

Twenty-two semifinalists then got the green light and about $5,000 to produce their films. Filmaka also got a fee.

Grushow would not comment on the terms but said the costs related to the Ford campaign were far below the typical costs associated with television branding.

“It would not be unheard of for one of the largest automotive companies in the world and one of the biggest ad agencies to spend in excess of $1 million in creating a 60-second commercial,” said Grushow.
